This is kinda a continuation from the last Journal I posted.

A question for MARVEL Fans.Do you miss how the main Marvel Universe use to be in comics ? I know Marvel is getting more and more popular but after what happened in Civil War 2 I start to think back.
The truth is I'm starting to not like where the Marvel universe is heading. Wolverine is dead, Hulk is dead, Thor is no longer the same Thor, The original Captain America is now a bad guy, Gwen has two alternate versions of herself from different universes which I find confusing and than we get a bunch of legacy characters who are basically copy cats from the original heroes and now Civil War 2 is hinting that Iron Man mite be replaced ?! I'm starting to miss how marvel use to be. Now don't get me wrong, Kamala Kahn is an exception because I was never a fan of the Ms. Marvel before she came. They even did good job on the new Thor too despite what happened to the original but my point is I feel like their killing off the main classical heroes we all know and love and with all these alternate universes involved its con

Now from what I could tell from the last journal most of you agree that Marvel is kinda going down hill with this crazy universe they created. However do you think they need to do what D.C did by relaunching its whole storyline ??

I personally think thats a good idea. They could even bring back the old ideas that they haven't used in a long time. For example, now they say the Incredible Hulk doesn't have a lot of super villains, but thats not really true. We all know his antagonists was The Abomination and the leader but The incredible Hulk had many more villains than that like Half-Life, Mad Man, Devil-Hulk, Flux, Mercy, Rampage and Maestro. (Which by way I wondered what happened to those characters)

So they could bring the back the old ideas that they haven't used since the 80's and 90's and throw away the stuff people didn't like (Unworthy Thor, Death of the Hulk, Captain Hydra and all that) and keep the ideas that people did like. The ideas people did like were Ms Marvel: Kamala Kahn, Old Man Logan, Red Hulk, Captain Marvel and the idea of giving the Inhumens their own comic series and put them all in the rebirth universe. And of course make some new ideas for the Marvel Universe. Better ones.

(Despite what I said before I am curious what Betty Ross A.K.A Red She-Hulk is gonna do when she finds out Bruce is dead. They haven't talked about that yet.)

So what do you think ? Douse Marvel need a rebirth ??

I don't know that they need a gran announcement/story to fix things..However there needs to be a clearer direction and unified universe. Right now nothing seems to fit together, Daredevil feels like he doesn't belong on the same world as Wolverine and so many other titles just feel like they are floating on their own
I am hoping secret empire will answer some of these concerns

I think there really comes a time in life where you need to realize, 'they are no longer writing stories for me'. I had that several years ago (so many of the things I see in this posting (Bruce Banner dead, etc) are totally new to me. I've been with the Marvel universe since the early 70s, but the things going on now are just not direct to me. I still look at Amazing Spider-Man every month more for nostalgia, and every month I am generally appalled by the art and the horrid storytelling. And there they are back into the Clone Saga nonsense...so the resurfacing of old plots you seem to desire is not always such a grand thing.
At least we have the old Essential collections (although they even stopped doing those...)

Well, yes and no.

On the one hand, the current Marvel run has good characters that, if we rebooted the comic line, we'd loose. I like Gwenpool and and Foster's Thor and Miles Morales.

Yet, on the other hand, the comics have been suffering big time lately. Spider-Man is a shell of his old self, no hero is his original self anymore, and of course there's that nonsense with the X-Men.

So maybe a silent reboot.

NO!!!

Knowing how downhill DC has gone over the past several years, I do NOT want Marvel going in that direction. Some of Marvel's newer stuff might be garbage, but at least their villains don't look like the undead yet. It's because of DC's newer stuff that I've gone totally Marvel these days. DC just doesn't feel the same to me as it did when I was growing up. And I personally feel it could do with an overhaul, too. More so than Marvel.

Even if Marvel did an overhaul of the story, you'll still run into the same problems because they will still have the same writers.

I agree with what pigsofdoom said. Any time something starts going downhill, it's always the fault of the current writers/editors/producers/etc. It doesn't necessarily need an overhaul as far as story goes. It just needs newer, better writers that can actually take it somewhere or add fresh, new ideas that can bring more substance to the story. If the writers aren't good, the story isn't going to be good. Right now, Marvel needs to clean house and throw out a majority of its current writers, mainly the ones who are PC and have been mucking up the Marvel universe (like making Captain America a bad guy). And they need to get some new ones in there that know how to get the characters back in-character and the Marvel universe as a whole back in order. And from there, keep going with new stories.

I agree.  A total rebirth is in order.  Marvel needs to clean house and restructure their universe.  I believe they have strayed too far from what their core characters have represented and what has made Marvel so great.  Put Cap back the way he was.....same thing with the Hulk.  I never liked the whole Red Hulk/Red She-Hulk story line.  Same thing with the Inhumans.  C'mon, Black Bolt and Medusa are soul Mates!!

They don't have to reboot, a rebirth-like "event" is a good idea, merge the good old stuff with the good new stuff and scrap the rest. I love Jason Aaron's Thor run ( unworthy, jane foster ), so i'd say keep that ^^.

Restarting everything is a bad idea. See what it has done for DC. Now their "universe" is a joke. It re-starts so often, and the changes are not even logical with the event that triggered them. Like in Flashpoint, many changes should not have been possible if they were already history by the time Flash went back.

Personally, I think they should just make more alternate universes like Ultimate Marvel. One could be like a Saturday Morning cartoon in order to get younger kids into comics, another could be a world where only the Avengers exist, and so on and so forth.

The only thing that has made me buy more DC comics compared to Marvel is because Marvel has been on this PC, liberal, SJW pandering kick over the past few months. Pissing me off so I'm just glancing quickly over the comics in the Marvel section and then buy my DC comics. If I'm buying Marvel comics, they're gonna be the old ones.

Not all of Marvel's newer stuff is like that. Granted that some of it is, and I try to stay away from those. But there is some new stuff that's actually good, like Agent of Asgard (seems like most anything with Loki is good). You just have to pick through the trash to find the good stuff.

And don't think I'm telling you to not buy their comics. ^w^ I don't have any right to tell ya that and if I stop being so mad about Captain America and the other crap Marvel is pushing out, I might look for nice new lines. Just not now and probably will wait until things change for the better in Marvel to go back over the good ones.

I know there are some good ones but when my favorite hero from Marvel Captain America who is very conservative is made to be a hydra fascist supporter, I know why Marvel picked him out to be demonized and turned into that. Until they make Cap the way he was and not this stupid version that got manipulated into becoming a hydra agent because of something he saw in a vision (Civil War 2 comic series) that shouldn't have led him to automatically swing to the fascist side. But yeah, I'd rather not support Marvel's new comics still. I still need to get my old comics that got destroyed and some of them were good marvel comic lines. >.< Marvel can do whatever they want. They got the freedom, but I don't have to support them. ^w^

Oh, yeah. I completely understand. I'm upset over what they did to Captain America, too. I think I am going to PUKE! I think the majority of Marvel fans are upset over that (and I'm glad). But I still love the good parts of Marvel and will continue to love it. I just don't support the trash side. I guess I'm more lax since I'm in a lot of fandoms, some of which have trashy undersides the same as Marvel. Over the years, I've learned to ignore the bad sides and pretend they don't exist while carrying on with loving the good sides. You kinda have to if you ever hope to enjoy anything, because pretty much ALL fandoms have their trash side, unfortunately. Since Marvel is such a wide universe by nature, it's very easy to love certain parts while ignoring others. (Those who actually love the new trash can keep it. I don't have to be a part of it.)

DC comics actually turned me totally Marvel within the past several years with the crud they're putting out now (it's not the same DC as it was when I was growing up during the 80s and 90s). Even though it's true that some of Marvel's newer stuff is garbage, I still like Marvel better than DC now (with the exception of DC's older stuff). Their animated cartoons are awesome, and their movies are awesome. And select series of their new comics are awesome, too, once you've picked around. And, naturally, their older comics are awesome.

About your second reply. I know you aren't telling me to not buy their comics. Even without your second reply, I wouldn't have gotten that vibe from what you've said here. To each their own. =) I'm very picky when it comes to comics, anyway. Lately, I've been picking out the Loki-centric comics and reading them above all else since I'm a Loki fanatic. And, like I said, most of the comics with Loki are actually good (thank goodness). They did an excellent job on the Agent of Asgard series (I highly recommend it whenever you get to the point of checking out Marvel again). There's no PC or SJW scrap in it. Just a nice story about Loki being a good guy for once. I also love the Journey into Mystery ones with Kid Loki, too. They are totally awesome and free of PC scrap. Although the Young Avengers series is kinda PC pushy/preachy, which is sad. It has such high potential to be a good series, but some parts of it are 'shoved in the reader's face/down the throat', in my opinion, and badly overpowers the rest of the story. Or that's the way I feel when I read it, anyway.

Ah, I'm glad ya didn't misunderstand. ;w; And you do it the way ya wanna and enjoy the good Marvel comics...of course. But thank you for your thoughts. ^w^ Maybe when I'm willing to let my huffy side cool down at the comic book store, I'll grab some ya recommended and give 'em a look. Can't really buy a lot of comics at the moment but who knows. ^w^

Absolutely not! I'm open for paralell universes or whatever, but no no no thank you to try to fix unbroken marvels with pushing the reset btn. And thank god they've taken a more interesting spin on Wolverines and Hulks now when them two are finally dead.

The universe isn't the problem, it's the writers and editors.  Let's be honest, Bendis is not a good writer, and he's been controlling the Marvel Universe so much.  He's made stories that go nowhere and massive changes that don't work.  We got awful books like Hellcat and America that would rather be tongue in cheek pointlessness than an actual story.

If you do a rebirth, all you will do is have these incompetent writers just muck up Marvel's history.  It's so telling that a lot of these writers treat continuity like it's a bad thing.  Look at Sam Humphries, awful at Marvel, AMAZING at DC.  Just saying.

I see your point. There is no point of doing the rebirth if the same writers who made those mistakes in the first place do the rebirth. Tha'll just mess up their history. However I do know one thing. Things can't continue on like they are now. Not with the main heroes at least

They could always bring these characters back from the dead but thats been done so many times  or they could replace these character with other alternate versions of themselves but I'm SO tired of that.

The problem is that Marvel has been following the MCU so much and they don't know what to do beyond that.  I mean, instead of grabbing other characters and promoting them, they're just making legacies.  We had a book called Avengers Arena that pretty much ruined both Avengers Academy and Runaways, and now they want to push teen characters who are exactly like the heroes before them?

And Bendis keeps crapping on any hero that's not one he grew up with.  You can even see in his books where he dictates who should be popular or not.  So now we're in this rut where we have writers who don't know how to write stories and don't come up with original ideas.  Because if they reboot, they'll just repeat the stories you know before, but make arbitrary changes to make characters "Cooler"
